  WHAT HAPPENED?

  Bragging rights are back in the Club America locker room after a 4-0 aggregate victory over Club America in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. The Azulcrema had a pressure-filed week after failing to score against Chivas in their first two matches against Los Rojiblancos. Following this week's victory that saw America secure a spot the CCC quarterfinals, team left back Cristian Calderon spoke about what the result meant to the team.

  "The players, the coaching staff, the entire staff – that's what makes a club great, and it's clear that América is the biggest club in Mexico," he said.

  THE BIGGER PICTURE

  Calderón joined América two seasons ago from Chivas amid criticism and disciplinary issues. His signing was not well received by fans due to his past with their fierce rivals. However, 'Chicote' has let his performance on and off the field do the talking, proving his commitment to the blue and yellow colors.

  "I had the chance to wear Chivas jersey, and today I'm here, and titles have been won. You speak more on the field than off it. But I arrived at a team that has quality in every sense", Calderón said this Friday.

  Calderón played 111 matches with Chivas between 2019 and 2024. The defender scored 10 goals with the team. Since his arrival at América last year, 'Chicote' has won two Liga MX titles.
